How to Set Up a Small Linen Closet for Lasting Organization

A well organized closet makes it easier to get your day together, helps keep your clothes fresh and pressed. It can also bring order to chaos and makes your wardrobe experience a pleasure rather than a stressor.

Tip #1: Let No Space Go to Waste

To maximize all the space in your closet you should incorporate the following steps.

1. Double up your hangers.

Use closet hooks to link two hangers together so you only have to hang one from your rod.

2. Invest in dividers.

Nifty inserts can transform a cluttered undergarment drawer into a streamlined system.

3.Use shower curtain rings for scarves.

You can give all your colorful scarves, belts and ties individual holders when you loop shower curtains onto the base of a hanger.

3. File your t-shirts.

Once you fold your t-shirts this way you can fit more into each drawer and see your entire collection more clearly and spend less time sorting through everything you own.

4. Use smarter hangers.

The circular hanger is designed for belts but its also handy for lightweight tanks. Instead of stuffing your closet with more than 10 hooks, this tool lets you hang them all together.

5. Add more rods.

Two clothing rods are better than one. Hang longer items like dresses from the high rod and shirts from the lower storage units.

6. Store bulky items like shoes.

Jean shorts or thick sweaters take up too much space in drawers, but don't mesh well with hangers either. The best solution? Use the shoe storage to roll up and store each sweater individually.

7.Add storage up top.

The higher the better. If you add extra shelves on top of the rod in your closet you can store out of season clothes.

Tip #2: Illuminate the Entire Space

Lighting is important in a closet because a well lit closet is easy to navigate, organize and feels more accessible. Good suggestions are recessed lighting, strip lighting and motion sensor lights. Closet lighting can be more functional and looks better too.

Tip #3: Fit the Space with Adjustable Shelving

Changing seasons means the items you want to have easy access to or pack away for later use are always rotating. Your wardrobe will change over time due to new purchases purging so shelf heights need to change accordingly.  Installing adjustable shelving in your closets gives you the freedom to maximize space and display your favorite items as well as adjust to summer, fall and winter.

However you choose to organize your space, it must be tailored to your unique needs. Choose closet and storage concepts are both beautiful and functional and perfectly curated for your life!
